We either know God, or we do not.
Knowing about Him & practising a religion is not an adequate substitute for knowing Him.
I've possibly learned as much about God, seen Him at work more, through broken wounded outsiders as I have acceptable Christians, including my theology professors. It's not that I did not learn from SS, sermons etc. But the rawness of God up close and personal is transformational.
I've seen wide eyed wonder that Jesus loved rebellious rejects, and I've gone away embarrassed that I no longer held such awesome truth in awe.
